6a. Our Online Learning Platform (www.vaclearn.com)

Some VAC classes use our student learning site, www.vaclearn.com, where students view their class slides and lessons and build projects such as games, apps and websites. For this platform:

• What we collect from students: a username, the student's class and school, the projects and code the student creates, and a short end-of-class check-out (how fun the class was, on a 1 to 5 scale, and an optional sentence about what they made or learned). Students do not need to give an email address or a password, and we ask them not to share other personal information.
• Students under 13: we collect student information only through a school, district, camp or program partner that has agreed to obtain any parental consent required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without that consent, we delete it promptly. Parents and guardians may ask to review or delete their child's information by emailing admin@vineyardappcamp.com.
• How we use it: only to run the class: to show students their lessons, save their work, let instructors and the school review progress, count how many students attended, improve our lessons, and keep the platform working. When we share check-out results with a school, we share class totals, not individual students' answers. We do not sell student information or use it for advertising.
• AI tools: students in AI classes may use built-in text and image generation tools. Student prompts are not stored or retained. These tools use the provider's safety filters, and for students below 9th grade we also block prompts containing inappropriate words.
• Images and music: images students add come from a built-in, kid-safe image search with safe-search filtering, and music comes from a built-in catalogue of license-free tracks from Uppbeat (credits listed at the end of this policy).
• Cookies: the platform uses a cookie to keep students logged in and remember their class.
• Retention: we keep student platform information only as long as needed for the program and our agreement with the school or partner.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
